Here in central Pennsylvania we have been treated to unseasonably warm weather—the birds are chirping, the trees are blossoming and the bulbs are blooming. We know, however, that this is most likely a ‘tease’. There are still cold days to come, but we are making the most of it while we can.
Making jewelry is definitely a true passion for me, but I am also a very enthusiastic gardener, cyclist and hiker. I have been playing in my flower beds, but am trying to make myself wait to completely remove the dead foliage from last year since it is protecting the tiny shoots from any possible cold snap or frost.
I have been spending time on my bike while the temperatures are in the 50’s – 70’s. I live in an area that has many rural roads that I can meander through to my heart’s delight. Believe it or not, I often think of a new jewelry design while I’m pedaling away on my bike. There are times that I can hardly wait to get back home and turn my idea into a reality.
This Spring has been delightful mostly because my daughter recently announced her engagement. She is marrying a wonderful man and I am very excited for them both. There will be much planning to do and I’m particularly looking forward to designing the jewelry for the bridal party. I have designed and made jewelry for several brides through Etsy and it will be a special privilege to now do it for my daughter.
I’m looking forward to the beginning of the show season and am anxious to see the response to my new designs. My first show will be the Apple Blossom Festival in Biglerville on May 5th and 6th. I’ve been busy gearing up by making sure I have plenty of the most popular items as well as many new and different pieces.
I am often working on some type of jewelry in the evenings as I sit and watch tv or listen to music. For tonight I am content to sit on my back deck, listening to the night sounds of spring. I’ll get my pliers back in my hands tomorrow. 🙂
